Senior Tax Manager

Our client is a large financial services organisation, currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join their high-performing tax function.

The Role

As a senior leader within Tax division, you will be responsible for implementing best-practice tax risk management and providing sophisticated advisory services. This is a visible leadership role with direct reports, managing local and offshore compliance, and delivering strategic tax insights to internal business units and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Advisory & Structuring: Provide high-level tax advice and structuring support to internal teams and operational divisions.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, train, and develop a team of tax professionals, ensuring a collaborative culture and the successful delivery of assigned organisational objectives.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of tax filings and reporting obligations, ensuring all internal tax controls are effective and operate as intended.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, custodians, and revenue authorities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead innovation within the tax function by updating technical guides, process maps, and operating procedures to ensure best-practice delivery.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess:

  • Qualifications: A relevant tertiary degree in Law, Accounting, Business, or Commerce. Professional CA/CPA or legal qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in tax compliance and advisory within a professional services firm, major corporate, or large fund environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of tax effect accounting. Experience across multiple disciplines (Income Tax, GST, FBT, and Stamp Duty) is an advantage.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of mentoring staff, delegating effectively, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance work environment.
  • Strategic Influence: Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear options and support to senior management regarding complex financial processes.
